Hi, your survival memo was packed with very useful information. I totally agree with you all that "communication is key." There are so many ways to communicate these days that means of communicating should be one of the first things that your group decides on. Try to respond to members of your group as soon as possible even if it's just to say that you're still working on something. And, when you don't understand something reach out to Bo she is always willing to help.
Excellent survival memo! Future students will greatly benefit from this information. I am very impressed that your group was ahead of the assignments this semester. I agree with your advice to not get overwhelmed at the beginning of the course and to chunk information and assignments. That definitely helped to make the course more manageable.

--- I also think that planning ahead and breaking the assignments into chunks are very useful for students to manage their assignments!
Laura, I could not thank you enough for the survival tips for EDAC634. It seems that the general consensus with many of the students in the class that communication is the number one skill that you need to succeed. Online courses are difficult as it takes lots of discipline to keep up especially when it comes to group projects. I see I am not the only one who agreed with your tip on breaking the assignments up into chunks. With EDAC634 it can be overwhelming with all of the discussion boards posts and group projects. So this advice will come in handy to future students. I agree with your regarding professor Bo Chang. She is an excellent communicator, makes time for her students, and cares about their academic success. Great job!
It's funny how communication come up being so important in team projects. The fact that you need to communicate with your team mates but also with Dr. Chang. By keeping her in the loop seemed as important as with your team mates. Online courses can make you become complacent but by keeping in touch with everyone can keep your mind on what is important. One thing to keep in mind when you talk about the work in the class being overwhelming, graduate students can be overwhelmed with a class, total number of classes and life in general. Family and work can make things seem overwhelming very easily. That's why it is important to keep in communication with your team mates so they can help relieve the anxiety.
You shared great informatin in your survival memo. I like how you talked about coummunication and the syllabus. You explained on how the syllabus is alot of information and sometimes you can go over it and read again and realize you may have not seen something the first time. So it is good to re-read and write information down in chunks. I'm glad someone acknowledged also that some of the post boards and projects can be overwhelming, however we do push through it.
